What recordings do you have of yourself solo or with a band that you are really proud of how it came out?

I have three:

http://tchoupchup.com/Documents/02%20Teacake.mp3

Unfortunately, this band no longer exists...but it was fun while it lasted.

BTW, I'm the guitar player.

My old band recorded an 16 song demo of Rolling Stones tunes. The studio did a pretty good job on the mixing. The best ones that came out IMO were:

    Respectable
    Paint It Black
    Under My Thumb
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

"Depth" which you can hear on my myspace page http://www.myspace.com/russmc

I was joining this band called F#@K Sprinkles - and they said for me to download a couple of songs they had and to write lyrics for them. So I did, and then they started having band issues, even before I auditioned for them. Long story short, they broke up, but I had a buddy who's a producer and he said could record my vocals for the music to use as a promo. I asked the band if they were cool with it, and they were.

I wish I had access to everything I've recorded (there were so many great moments for me, not that I thought I
played all that well, but hey whatever). I've recorded with a ton of people - Joe Walsh (he was FUN), John Mayer,
Scott Henderson (Scott kicked my ass), Pearl Jam, Ike Turner, Train, POD, Finch, & bunch more (to many to list).
    Cheers . . .

  • This is probably a broken record to most people around here. But so far in my life this EP is my proudest moment.

    http://www.myspace.com/hannahspocket

Two songs are up and a 20 to 30 second clips of each song in a album preview.

Recorded and mixed on analog tape. Took a few years just because it's just a hobby to us, and we all have full time jobs. Was a good time. But also extremely frustrating.

But we are all grabbing our hammers again and going to start beating out about 15 more tracks for a full length.

actually mustering up the courage to play solo shows on my own a few years ago which, given my general level of self-confidence throughout my life, was pretty remarkable for me.

recorded moment, probably this song. this is the most ambitious i ever got.

Here are a few solo recordings of me in my basement fooling around with my guitar, bass, synth, drum machine and multi-track recorder:

    http://www.spinners-web-design.com/Leave%20With%20No%20Delay.mp3

    http://www.dreamt.org/spinfrog/For%20Optimum%20Peakness%20Make%20Sure%20To%20Use%20Well.mp3

They're not really songs insomuch as they are me cramming ideas out of my head into neat little packages.

and of course, the one you'll probably enjoy the most (and I've posted it here a ton of times):

(I'd like to re-record it and smooth it out a bit, but I still love it)

Some other stuff w/ my buddy at open mics:

up on http://www.myspace.com/amadeuskdiamond theres this thing called K Through To O which is probably one of my favourite things instrumental i've recorded. I don't have any of my things with vocals up there that i'm all that proud of

i wouldn't say it's my 'best', but nothing else i ever do will ever come close to how good this weekend was. didn't know it at the time, but it was the last weekend i got to spend with my brother and we recorded 'comfortably numb', 'under the bridge' and 'immortality'. i could record something now and it could be 'perfect', but it'll never be as good to me as that.

I played a live 10 song set at my on wedding on guitar/vocals with my Dad on bass. My wife came up and played tabourine on a cover of RITFW.
  • I'm never really happy with my recordings. Well, I am for about five minutes, then I listen back and think, "Awwww, I could do it a lot better." I've an album in the can like that.

In 9th grade, I learned the entire "Hotel California (unplugged)" solo and all the leadwork and played it in front of about 200 people with a friend of mine. I worked real hard on it at the time and I got great responses.

Other than that, it was just a couple months ago when I was invited to join a band after playing drums at an open mic night.

Yeah, DML is also where I worked with Blink and NFGlory. Alex (we all called
him Grizz) Linares & I worked together at GC in San Marcos (111). I recorded
with them at DML in San Diego in '03 (DML is actually in Murrieta). They did
"Worms of the Earth" for the Underworld Movie that year. In late 2004 Grizz
told us that they were having issues with Alex (Pappas) their drummer, and
it finally got to the point where they basically told him that he was getting
replaced - then the band just broke up. My buddies in SD told me that they
finally got back together late last year, and that they have a few songs in
the works that are coming out this year - I sure hope that they can all hold
it together for a bit - wheeew, bands are hard work.

made a demo for my the original band i had 2 years ago, very proud of my guitar work on it...i was the only guitarist, but i layered guitars on there Jimmy Page style, lots of fun and i got to be creative even though i wasn't the one who wrote the songs

the videos you can see in the link in my signature below are proud moments....my solo cover has gotten many views and postive reviews, and the band stuff had the crowd in the bar that night jumpin'
"I'll tell you what: If all I had was Pearl Jam, and I didn't have another band in the world, I would not be worried. Because in there is the essence of making great music. You don't have to use it all at once, but it's there." - Neil Young

    thank you.

unfortunately i never think anything is good enough. i'm like fins, 5 minutes later i hate it all. but i love recording it.

the last things i "finished" were those songs about 4 years ago. actually i guess those ones i posted were shortly after i got protools so 5 years ago. i did a 9 song record.

since then i think i've only finished 3 songs though i have about 15 more fully recorded except i have no lyrics.

and now, for the past year, i have no time to play and i'm finding that my agitated state of mind completely kills my creativity.

oh well. some day i'll have time again. and maybe i'll be able to properly instill in my kids the love of music.

my 5-mo old daughter currently falls asleep to AIC's "dirt" record. she's usually out like a light by the end of "dam that river". she likes muse too. fell asleep to that tonight. the louder the better for her. my 2-yr son just got his first acoustic from my parents. he's still a little young (not not just jump on the guitar) for it but he does bang on the piano and sing already.

i'll listen to everyone's tonight. i'll be sitting here working for a couple of hours. most of the time i'm posting from a mobile phone these days as i'm rarely home and awake at the same time.
