Buzzing string..?

I have a Fender Precision Bass that is a few years old, but has only been really played for a year or so. The third string (D string) is slowly getting to the point where I can't use it at all, and I have no idea what's wrong with it.
The first three frets sounds fine, but when I try to play anything higher on the string it makes a flat sound from the fifth fret to anything higher. It used to be just the eighth or higher, but the problem is slowly creeping down the string. Is there a quick fix to this, or do I need to take it to a guitar center or something?

Probably need to have the truss rod adjusted. Take it to GC or a guitar tech and they can do it for you pretty cheap.0

Once GC adjusted my truss rod for free in a few minutes, so definitely let them check it out.0
