The discovery channel had this on the other day. Was wicked cool. Goes through how Les Pauls are constructed from start to finish at Gibson. If anyone is interested and missed it, here is a link..

  • How It's Made (discovery channel) has had two episodes on associated stuff. One was on Traynor amps, the other was on Godin guitars. Much shorter clip (5 minutes each maybe), but pretty informative.

Any links by any chance? I'm very interested since a Godin and a Traynor are basically all the gear I own.

I watched this when it was on. It was really cool to see how they are made.

That was a really cool video. Last summer my dad and I went to the Martin factory in Nazareth which is only about an hour and a half or so from where we live. It was really interesting. Guitar factories are actually pretty cool places. Plus, I got to play a HD-28VS afterward which is THE best guitar I've ever played. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Anyone else hear that Gibson will be setting up it's own European distribution company some time next year.
I guess people won't have to deal with the middleman (Rosetti) anymore.

Also, Fender bought out the music division of the Kaman Corporation (biggest music instrument distributor in the U.S).
Meaning: Ovation, Hamer, Genz Benz, Toca, Gibraltar.
Kaman also handled the worldwide distribution of Takamine Guitars, but don't know if Korg will retain UK distributor rights.

BTW: THE LINK DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE.

The video is gone... anyone know where it is anywhere else? I'd really like to see it.
Things change. They wont change unless you make them. The best way to change something you don't like, is to change yourself. So if you feel like you have a piece of duct tape on your mouth and you can't escape, take it off, speak up, speak your mind, shout it out, let 'em hear ya! -EV

I did not hear about Fender buying Kaman...that's just ridiculous at this point. What's next for fender to buy? St. Louis Music? Might as well own everything except for Gibson.

As for Gibson opening a Euro company...yea I heard they merged with TC Electronics?

Gibson virual factory tour is available on the Gibbo website anytime, shows everything about how to make an LP.

Rosetti has gone, Yamano has gone in Japan, very likely the Oz distributor will go when their agreement is up.

TC Electronics is owned by Lars Ulrich so Gibson et al and the entire Les Paul concept is now ownded by Lars.
    Music is not a competetion.
