so now that I've hooked you in with that I came across this while looking on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/1998-Fender-Stratocaster-Custom-Shop-1960s-NOS-as-new_W0QQitemZ300224165588QQihZ020QQcategoryZ156025QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It's not mike's own guitar but he did play it when laying down a couple of tracks for someone's cd. I talked to the seller and his story seems legit. He runs a studio called bionic earz and mike is listed as someone who has played there.
(http://bionicearz.com/?q=node/5) There's more to the story and he told me so if someone was interested I'm sure he'd tell it again. I wouldn't pay that much money just to own a guitar that mike has played but if I were looking for a custom shop fender that would be icing on the cake.
btw, I'm not in any way affiliated with the seller... just thought it was cool and I'd pass it along here on the forum.

Nice Strat - I don't know much about the studio (the studio gear listed is kind of, ehhhh) - but I've never done any work there.
Mike choosing to play the Strat over the others isn't that big a surprise (I mean there are only 4 other electric guitars listed):
Fender American Deluxe Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul Custom ('71), Gibson Les Paul Deluxe ('70), Gibson Melody Maker w/humbucker ('60).
And honestly out of what's listed, the Custom Shop Stratocaster would have been the logical choice for Mike to use - he's a Strat guy.
