Finally this pedal arrived today.
I have to thank those who politely shoved me in teh direction of thsi thing, NOvawind or xtremehardy, I can't remember who, cos it is a beast.
I was gassing for it so I could dig into Streets with No NAme. I had a gander at a web-site teh other day whihc detailed just what you really need to do to get that sound, and it was very complex. Stereo amps with different delays through each, and vocal mike bleed at just the right distance etc, and I was thinking, oh boy, this is too hard.
So how pleased was I when I read the manual and one of the pre-sets is named ...........................wait for it
UToo !!!
Of course. the Edge has been using the TC 2290 for a long time, so they have the inside knowledge.
So anyway, I plug in, spend a little bit of time learning how to programme the correct tempo, and bingo, instant perfect Streets tone. My wife came running downstairs she was so amazed by what she heard. No endless stuffing around trying to programme impossible parameters. Yay !!!!! And best of all, if you change the tempo slightly, all the parameters follow, because they are set in intervals, not just millisecond values.
After playing with that for a while, I spent a little time setting it up to play the intro to Baba O'Rielly. It took a few goes on the tap tempo (actually, wiht this you can play the guitar to set the tempo, which is a whole lot more accurate) and eventually settled on 125 ms (16th's at 120bpm) which is perfect. A single repeat note, on mix 50 and I was rocking !! I was pretty chuffed that value came out of the tap-tempo, which means I was picking it at very accurate speed (I was picking the 8th's).
This thing even has a dynamic mode, so when you are playing a lot of notes, it dials the delay back in the mix, and when you play slower single notes, they jump out again. Perfect for Baba, as when the power chords kick in, the effect fades out.
I am one happy camper !!
Thanks again people, without your advice, I would have bought something less perfect.
Now, if my other parcel with the Electric Mistres and the Little Big Muff Pi comes tomorrow, I am gonna be a pig in mud !!!!!

Anyway glad it lived up to the hype. It's a fantastic pedal. Definitely my choice for "Desert Island" Delay.

Yeah, there was a big comparison thread on TGP I stumbled across a few days ago hile waiting for delivery, betwee, the Eventide, the Nova, nad a few other high-end things. The Nova was really highly thought of, more so than the Eventide. Though people started waffling about it being noisy, and in true INternet fashion, that spun out of control and before long people were planning to avoid them based on all the talk about noise. I know who was making the noise.
I'm gonna add BAba O'Reilly to our set-list now, cos the intro just sounds so good through it.
It is the Picture wah of delays.
