There has been a great litel thread running on teh LP forum about DIY amp bias.
A nice guy posted this link, which i thought you might be interested in. I will probably take teh plunge at some stage. tehre is also a bias calculator somewhere on teh weber site to make it all easy. INterestingly, someone said that it was not until teh mid-eithties that anyone really bothered to re-bias amps woth new tubes anyhoo. In the good ol' days, peeps just chucked new globes in and kept pplaying.
