Hey. I can only assume this has been answered before.

What is that Blue Sparkle Tele that Eddie Vedder has been playing lately. Is it a Fender? Tom Anderson? Other?

It's the one with the soap bar pickups and the bullseye drawn on it (and a arrow). He played it on Saturday Night Live.

I'm really curious. Thanks.

I think it's probably a Fender now. It has a Fender headstock. Anyone know?

giventowail lists it as a 60s telecaster. it's not the schecter at the very least.

Ok, it looks like a modded Fender.

  • Yeh, it is a 63' Black-Sparkle Fender Telecaster. It's been modded a bit too over time (a little different paint job, P-90 neck, etc.). If I am not mistaken it is the same one he is playing the album art for No Code. I'm hopefully going to build one just like it in the not to distant future.

here are two other pics of it. to me it looks like he had the rear end shaved down and contoured like a strat body would have. if i had a tele i would do the same because i don't like the way it feels to be playing something that is flat like a tele.

it's called a tummy cut if any of you are thinking of getting a custom body built.

  • One thing I can't figure out is why those lines on the non-sparkled area are there. Any ideas?

    It's tape.
  • So he put tape on there to cover up the wood as a make shift finish or something? And what kind of tape? Gaffer tape?

  • what kind of paint do you guys think he used on his guitar, because you can still see the grain of the wood. just a thin coat of paint maybe? I want a simialr paint job minus the sparkles on my next tele.
