    a signal splitter. takes one signal, say from your guitar, and splits it into two signals, presumably of the same strength as the original and send it on to amps or whatever.

    presuming you're talking about one of mike's rigs, i'd imagine it's some very high quality piece of gear with tube based buffers etc.
