So I just got a capo. Ive wanted one for a while. Seemed like every tab I came across, and that every acoustic player I watched, had one. Ive got a few under my belt, but Im hoping some of you can reccomend some good songs, PJ or not, to play using it. Thanks! :)

Shit, I put this in the MT > Doh! :p

There's so many! What other than PJ do you like, it might be easier to recommend some then...

    PJ ones..

Bushleaguer, Nothingman, All or None, I'm open, Strangest Tribe.

Name some of your favorites to play, and I'll give em a go. :)

    Jack Johnson = wicked cool.

Brushfire Fairytales is my fav album by him. I love playing Flake.
Also a little bit of a Chili nutter as i'm a big fan on Frusciante. Under the bridge is fun to play.
Also Powderfinger - Thrilloilogy. Very cool to play.

i once played "Here, There and Everywhere" with John Gotti.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Anyone wanna fill me in on what Captain 'Not so Obvious' might be on about here?

What's that go to do with Capo's?

Edit: Seems i lead a very sheltered life, i have just been given the low down on what that meant.
    Carry on.....

  • I play a little guitar and do not have a capo (I should actually get one) and I tell you "Come back" with a capo would be much easier to play:

    Chords:
    F C A#

    Have fun.

Look up "You Belong To Me" by Jason Wade. That's a good little capo 6 song and well as "Comfortable" by John Mayer if you are trying to get the ladies all wound up.

I think Atlantic City by Bruce Springsteen is played with a capo somewhere on the neck... 3rd fret maybe?

I went to play Bron-y-Aur Stiomp by Led Zep the other night after chatting to MAggot Brain about it. Tuned to open D, got a littel confused why teh tab was saying open F#, teh realised I need a CAPO, which I do not have.
So, there is a cracker of a song for you to capo up for.
Needless to say, OPen G was next for a bit of DAughter, then Open A for some JAck White.

I love open tunings on my Gretsch, just something about that guitar that screams out for slide work.
Locking tuners and stable neck make the changes easy too !!
    Music is not a competetion.

You haven't seen a capo at work until you check out this song, really.

You'll need to speed it up a lot, though, and rush into the capo changes without those breaks that guy gives himself.

Errr, well Im not even gonna try that just yet. Was cool to see tho. Im not that great a "picker", for now I've resigned myself to "strummy sing along" type playing. I've been playing for years now, but I've never quite gotten quick pickin/fingerpickin down.

But thanks for the video fins. :)

    Can you play that?
