Is this a real tuning??

I have used this tuning for about 5-6 years now. Basically I was looking for a real low sound, but still be able to solo with higher strings in standard tuning WITHOUT getting a seven string guitar (I dont know what it is about those, but I just dont like em, maybe just looking like Im trying to be Korn or something). I was just kinda messing around one day and came up with it. It goes (from heaviest to lightest strings) C-G-C-G-B-E

I have always been curious if this was an actual tuning or not, does anyone know?? is it some kind of open C tuning?

If anyone is curious, try it out. Its pretty interesting once you figure it out...

Yeah, Im sure its gotta have a name too. Im just wondering if anyone here knows.
Oh, and drop c would be like drop d, only down a whole step for all of the strings. Which IS like the 3 lowest of my strings, but the higher 3 are in standard tuning....hmmmmm

  • Here's Open C...

    C G C G C E

So your tuning is Open Cmaj7 because you dropped that C on the 2nd string to a b.

    ta da! :D

Dropped C would be like Queens of the Stone Age tunings, every string is down a full four steps. Any more and the strings would probably fall off. But it sounds pretty sweet, love playing lost art of keeping a secret in that tuning.
