Just throwin' this out there for those who haven't seen it. It's nothing new. I wish we'd see more of this stuff and less of his pop shit

Awesome. Enjoy it. He's phenomenal live. I'm seeing him at the end of July, can't wait. It'll be the fourth time in a year!

You know, I think he'd be less the artist that he is if he didn't make those frightening faces.

The guitar work that starts at 3:20 into the video made me fall in love.

He works his vocals, he works his guitar, he works his music. Most excellent.

I recorded with him in late January 2000 (before he got signed). He made those faces even
then (made me laugh) - and he was very Sevie Ray Vaughan influenced (even at that time).

anyone know where I can get that pickguard John has on his strat in the first video?

I'm actually buying a sunburst strat soon and that looks so awesome, so just wanted to see where I could get that same one.

I love this solo.. I can hear the SRV influence, he has all that awesome snarl but it sounds happier.

Is that a Super Reverb and a Super Sonic he's using?

"Covered In Rain" is such an awesome song, one of my top 5 favorite Mayer songs. I tried to get him to put it on a studio album years ago but he didn't think that the song would have the same feel as it does live. I just love it though, great stuff.

His "JOHN MAYER STRAT" comes with that pickguard, but as far as I know it's just a standard tortoise-shell PG

You can find these everywhere, like at Guitar Center, Sam Ash, or your local music stores.
And usually cheaper than Musicians Friend sells them.

AS FAR AS I KNOW HE USES VIBRO-KING, TWO ROCK, AND DUMBLE AMPS

at that time, probably vibrokings and a dumble. currently, two rocks and a dumble i believe.

WOW. SRV is probably smiling from wherever he is now. I always thought of Mayer as a decent modern blues guitarist, but I never knew he could bring down the hammer like he did in that video. Amazing. RIP SRV.

Vibrokings are under appreciated, at least by the masses. I can't count how many backlines I've seen them in.

Man they sound great. Eric had some great new preamp units he was working on that absolutely sound amazing in front of the VK's.

It's probably as close as it gets to a production bassman with tube reverb and vibrato.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
