The goal was to make the frame remind me of the old Donkey Kong stand up arcade machines. I've actually got a decent collection of PJ posters, but I just started getting them framed. I mainly only get the shows that I go to, but then I try to grab extras here and there if I really like the poster. The Donkey Kong has been my "grail" for a while, and through trading/buying on Lost Dogs, I was able to not only finally score one, but an AP! I just got it back from the frame shop last night... what do you think?
your picture is much better than mine - but the frames and ideas are pretty similar. Great choice -- i like the fact that you have a yellow mat in there as well0 -
Spags wrote:After reading about the poster tubes being DEATH to these wonderful works of art that we all love in here I decided I should get mine out and flatten them a bit. However, now I need a portfolio to stash them in...anybody got any good online suggestions?
I know, I know...put them in a frame right? Well, I know you all know how expensive that can be. They just need a safe home until I have some money...
I have a similar scene in the extra bedroom at my place. Working on getting the posters flattened and then I'll find a decent priced portfolio to store them in.0 -

I love that red frame with the Cracker Jack :thumbup:derbydave wrote:
Holy FUCK! That is absolutely stunning
We got a red LB from a fellow board member as a gift and would love to frame it along with our stickers and ticket stubs and my Mike pick too. We will have to do it ourselves and I'm trying to think about how to fix that LP to the mat/ back  I could probably just use double sided tape or something like that... Hm.imalive wrote:that would be a moose
I bought it because while I did not actually attend that vancouver show ('09), the poster from the vancouver show I did attend ('11) was absolutely god awful (wolfman lamb boy) and both posters had the same date (9/25) but neither had the year. capisce?Pretty cool that you could match the dates

I'm totally breaching the rules of the framed poster thread but I have to share my happiness.
My 17 y/o daughter Alexis is a huge rock music fan and our hobby has been going to rock shows since she was 13 when she cut her teeth in the pit at a Bruce Springsteen show in Hartford. Since that time we've been to countless shows together... including a dozen Bruce shows and six PJ shows (4 on the current tour). One of her favorite bands is System of a Down and her favorite poster of all time is one Emek did for them in 2002...
Long story short, I contacted Emek and he had one that he could sell and that became her big Xmas present.
This post will serve as part 1 of a before/after framing contribution. We'll bring it to the framer on Monday or Tuesday and will post our part 2 in a couple of weeks!
Thanks for humoring a dad who feels like a super Santa this year, with no small thanks to Emek and Co..0 -
