I'm hoping to pick up these: Sunny Day Real Estate / Circa Survive shared 7" Nirvana 7" Lydia Loveless 7" Husker Du - Candy Apple Grey reissue Pixies - Indie Cindy and if there are any of the REM Unplugged sets left I may grab one too!! I'm thinking that's gonna be the HARD one to get this year!! Good luck on Saturday buddy!!
Gah! Forgot about the Pixies! Oh well, if that's there it's going to have to go in the bag. Good luck to you too man...
How did you make out Gary?? I got EVERYTHING I wanted except the Nirvana 7" & the REM Unplugged!!
Hey Dave. Luckily for me my record store owner is a friend from school days and he kept me the REM Unplugged!! Got Springsteen as planned and the only copy of Indy Cindy too. All are still lying sealed in the bedroom but can't wait to hear that seal pop on the REM box and to get it spinning. They had the Nirvana single too but it was too expensive for two songs for me. I'm tempted to go back for the Husker Du album yet... :-?

A couple of "filler" frames I picked up today. PJ makes up by far the majority of my collection but being a big Klausen fan a few others find a way in and these look great hung on opposite sides of my stairwell window. The photos don't really do the colours much justice though.

Thanks guys and especially to Cyrus Framing in Canton. Just dropped off my 2013 Pittsburgh and my E.V. Nashville Hatch posters.
Just got home from the Framing Center...picked up these beauties!!
PJ Portland '13 / EMEK:
Matte Detail:
The top matte has a shiny gold linen finish and the fillet between the mattes has a blue wash to match the bottom matte!!
Because the back of this one is almost as nice as the front...Julia cut a black matte and used a sheet of plexiglass to protect the back of the poster.
HUGE thanks to my Seattle '13 ticket buddy Crazy Marcus for grabbing this poster for me at the Portland show...one of my favorites from the Lightning Bolt tour!!
Julia also did an AMAZING job framing this EMEK handbill for me. When I dropped it off, I told her to just "Surprise" me with the finished project...here's what she did!!
I LOVE the different textures & finishes she used in the mattes & frame:
The frame itself is basically a silver mirror and really looks sweet!!
Dropped off my Band Of Horses / Acoustic at The Ryman Hatch print today and should have it back in a few weeks!! AND...Just wait until you see what Julia did for Matt / Heisenberg's Cleveland '94 Hess print...It's INCREDIBLE!!

Custom frame jobs can be expensive... depending on the size of the poster, items you are including in the project as well as the framing supplies used. The actual frame itself is usually the most expensive element of my projects, but the cost can escalate quickly depending on the number & type of mattes you choose. I always use acid free mattes & museum quality glass on my frame jobs too. My frame job usually run between $150 & 200...these are typically the collage projects I do for the posters from the shows that I have attended. These were all under $200:
I wanted to do something special for my Wrigley / Cracker Jack & this is what my framer Julia came up with. The top matte has a red core & Julia added a gold slip & an extra blue matte around the poster to pull the colors from the poster into the frame job. This one was around $250:
I always use a simple black frame & a black top matte with a colored core for these and then add in one or two colored mattes to accent the poster. For my AP's or posters that I received as a gift, I'll do a little more elaborate frame job & these are the more expensive projects. I've used top mattes with denim, suede & linen finishes on these & usually add in a slip or fillet to separate the different levels in the project... it's hard to see from the pictures you post on the forum, but this separation really looks GREAT!! My most expensive frame job was around $400...for this Bon Iver/Santa Barbara AP by EMEK:
This one has a suede top matte & a filigree slip between the top & bottom mattes.
I use a GREAT locally owned frame shop & they give me a pretty good discount on the frame jobs too.

I have to say that's quite affordable (relatively speaking of course) for such frame jobs. Even when disregarding the euro/dollar exchange rate, the prices are quite a bit higher here in the Netherlands. I just had two posters framed. I tried out two different framers, just to get some comparison.
My Amsterdam II 2012 cost €150 (~$210):
This is a custom aluminium frame. No matte (recommendation by the framer, he said the poster didn't really need a matte as it's already quite expressive and I agree with him). The poster is of course mounted correctly, so it's not touching the glass. And this is with regular glass. Using museum quality glass would more or less double the price (this regular glass costs about €20 I believe, the museum quality glass would cost about €150 for the glass alone!).
I also had my Antwerp 2006 (my first PJ show) framed, at a different framer. The cost for this one was €90 (~$125).
The main difference in cost between the two posters is that for this one they could use a standard-sized frame (again, with regular glass). The matte is dark green. As this was a poster to try out the work of a framer, I kept it simple with just one matte. Still, despite this framer being quite a bit cheaper, I'm not sure yet which one I prefer.
I have several other posters I want to frame. And seeing the wonderful works of art in this thread has given me some ideas for future framing jobs. At the moment lack of wall space is preventing me from framing more posters. That and the cost. As I said, the framers I've worked with are a bit more expensive than what others in this thread pay for their framed posters.
At DerbyDave's request, here are a couple pics of Julia's work on my 94 Hess. This is the first print I ever bought from my first PJ show. #67 of 350 bought directly from Derek Hess at a record show for a whopping $20. She did an amazing job. Unfortunately, the pics don't do it justice as you can't really see the detail in the matte which has a really nice, almost blue/black texture to it. I tried to get some tight shots but it just doesn't read very well. She also floated my beat up ticket stub as well as another little souvenier that has a story behind it.

More amazing stuff. Wow. Derbydave, these prices are insanely low for what you are getting. We went to Michaels with our wedding show poster (EV solo Memphis 2012) and ended up making it more simple and simple to lower the price. In the end, we got no matte, and a frame around it and I think we paid like 160 dollars for that. We were high-spirited when we went there, and also wanted to get our PJ20 Brad Klausen framed, but decided against it because it was so freaking expensive. Now we resorted to getting regular frames and a matte custom cut every now and then to frame our posters. I remember that back in Germany, it was equally painful to find proper framing as the poster from the Netherlands said. Eurpoe has a different framing tradition. I think in the US stuff is more readily available and people get more creative for less money because framing memorabilia like sports team jeryes and stuff like that is very popular here. It is like a different framing culture. In Germany, I usually got my frames from Ikea. My Dad had a matte cutter that I used. It was not fancy, but they looked okay. We are still planning on getting our red LB LP framed with all the stickers and tickets to the shows we went to last fall, but that will have to wait. House renovation is more important right now...
And is that PJ poster museum a real idea of you guys?! Let us know when and where if so
Please, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue!
My framing shop has a sign in their window that says "Our normal prices are BETTER than Michael's 60% off coupons" and then I get a 25% discount because of all the work I have done there...PLUS, I'm supporting a smaller LOCAL business instead of a big box retailer...it's a WIN/WIN if you ask me!!

So envious! Those are all terrific! If I'm not mistaken, you are in Ohio, right? What is up with badass framers in Ohio? A few need to migrate north! =P~

That's my football tailgating hat there. Try to go to all the home games I can in Ann Arbor.
Thanks guys and especially to Cyrus Framing in Canton. Just dropped off my 2013 Pittsburgh and my E.V. Nashville Hatch posters.

Incredible as usual Dave !!!
Those look great !!!
I have that '94 Hess print framed also so I'm anxious to see that one too.
So Dave, I was wondering, with all of these fantastic frame jobs you have, is every room in your house a 2 story room and completely absent of any windows and the walls completely covered in all of this great artwork?
