in my recent research for a good acoustic guitar that would fit my tastes i ran across this site. hope it is useful to you.

also a search on google for "guitar wood" will probably get you some more similar websites.

i didnt mention it earlier but it does kinda bring it up in the website. make sure you look at the grain of the guitar and know what is a good grain pattern for the wood you decide on. obviously you cant do this with an internet dealer, so i suggest you pick yours up at a store. i got lucky and guitar center had what i wanted but i know that doesnt happen very often, so take your time. an acoustic guitar that does what you want is truly priceless so it will be worth the wait.

I would not choose solid walnut for a guitar body. Bass...maybe. guitar, no...no way. Maybe a top...but even that's just a maybe.

Walnut is a beautiful wood, but not very midrange friendly.
