i have been seriously looking at the prs custom 22 guitar( http://prsguitars.com/showcase/current/custom.html) because i dont have a good humbucking guitar and want to avoid any gibsons due to their business practices. i have tried it and like it, and think i wanna buy it. is this a good idea? the reason i might not want it is because my influences dont use them, and Nickelback does(eww). share your thoughts
they call them fingers, but i never see them fing. oh, there they go

If you like a really nice looking guitar with shitty tone.....go ahead and buy a PRS.

Have you checked out the Standards as well? There are MANY humbucking guitars in that pricerange.

I think PRS's are entirely overrated.
Some sound decent but for some reason I'm never comfortable playing them.

My motto of life...anything that Nickleback does, I do the opposite.

I HATE THEM SOOOOOO MUCH!!! What a waste of human life!

Have you looked at the Carvin California Carved tops? I'd think they may be up your alley.

and since you're in the price range, how about checking out Mcinturff, Suhr, and Anderson while your at it too?
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I love my PRS custom 22. It sounds great, especially on big crunchy power chords. If you want to know some great guitarists that use PRS's, there's Dave Navarro on Jane's Addiction's Ritual De Lo Habitual (listen to Three Days and tell me that isn't great tone), Chris Haskett from Rollins Band, Carlos Santana, and Dickey Betts. My main guitar is an American Standard Strat and I'll always be a Strat man at heart (probably a big shocker given my nick) but when I want the humbucker vibe, I think the PRS delivers just fine.

I'll throw the Schecter name in here for the more affordable humbucking guitar. VERY playable, pretty good price, and with a pickup swap, it can sound like you want it to.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

He's a hollowbody spruce guy. man that is a fantastic guitar.

If I could rationally purchase any PRS it'd be either a Hollowbody Spruce top or a Hollowbody II.

    Here's a Carvin Gold Top CT4.

I would have used, black pickup rings.

George McConnell of Widespread Panic switched to a PRS and totally ruined the sound of the band.

For that reason alone, I want to burn every PRS in existance.
