A Gibson SG Special with Fralin P90's.
  • moster and i both have that guitar but with the stock pickups...490R (i think)

It's a great guitar and worth every penny, I like the stock pickups as well. It's my primary guitar. If you want to put in the Fralins P-90s you are going to have to take it to a tech and they will have to do all this rewiring. That's why I'm keeping the pickups I got in it now, maybe change them to different humbuckers and then I'll get a guitar with P-90s.

The color was discontinued as of early last summer. Sometimes if you go on ebay there is one that comes up every few weeks.

I was going to get mine new and then when I finally had the money the discontinued 2 weeks earlier. So I went on ebay and got one in 9.5/10 condition (just had some pick marks on the pickguard) for about 675-700$ I think. Good deal because new they were going for about 950$.

I think I might put '57 classics in it, I'm not sure yet.

I bought mine from some guy who posted it for sale here. $600. It came in pretty good shape, some scratches, but nothing horrible, plus it adds character. I haven't switched out the pickups or anything, just added chrome covers to them because I hate the look of open coil pickups. One day, when I have some other kind of guitar with humbuckers (a Les Paul) I'll put in some kind of P90 pickups into the SG, probably something humbucker sized, so I don't have to do any rerouting of the wood.
