Your next 5 guitars will be...

Since I've only been playing for about a year, I really don't have a lot of gear. So I thought it would be cool for all of us to share what our next five (realistic) guitar purchases might be. I guess you can throw amps in there too if you want. My choices will take me a fairly decent amount of years before I could hope to acquire them all (college will rob me of almost all of my money). The gear that I own right now is an Epiphone LP Ultra, an Epi LP Special (first guitar, haven't used it in months... the Ultra has all but replaced it), and a Seagull M6 acoustic. My amp is a Vox AD30VT.

Here are my hopeful purchases for the future, in order:
1. Fender American Strat
2. Orange Tiny Terror + a cab of some kind
3. Gibson LP
4. Gibson Songwriter Acoustic (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Songwriter-Deluxe-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=517046)
5. Fender American Tele

How about yours?

    3. Gretsch guitar
    4. Fender Telecoustic
    5. Digitech Whammy
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    3) Fulltone Octafuzz

My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

    1. Pedalboard including TS9, DD3, Budda Budwah, and Phase 90
    2. Acoustic: Probably a Seagull cutaway
    3. Gibson ES-335 or similar semi-hollowbody
    4. An amp that will complement my Traynor (Mesa/Marshall)
    5. G&L S-500 or similar stratocaster style guitar

Note: 3, 4 and 5 will not happen within the next 2 years. Like Paco said, lessons are #1 right now.
    Camden I '06, Camden II '06, Bonnaroo '08, Camden I '08, Camden II '08, Philly Spectrum II/III/IV '09, MSG I '10, MSG II '10, Made In America '12, Wrigley '13, Brooklyn II '13, Philly I '13, Philly II '13, ...
  • Gibson songwriter acoustic (with the cutaway).
    Gibson firebird
    Fender bassman.

I really want a nice acoustic. I've got one now that is ok at best, and since I have a newborn in the house, the AD30 doesn't get cranked up very often anymore. I've always wanted an firebird, but honestly I don't see it hapening. I'd have to get rid of something currently in the stable, and that's just not going to happen. The bassman would be great to compliment the orange. My brother is running his blues deluxe along with his tiny terror, and it sounds great.

    Hmm...
    SKB PS-45 Pedalboard
    Overdrive of some sort
    Ovation Balladeer
Not really planned (probably years away)
    Gibson Les Paul Standard
    Epiphone Sheration

I figure I get one more guitar before university, and I'm thinking the Balladeer. Thoughts? I'm pretty happy with my electrics, as the Godin does a fairly good job as a Humbucker guitar and I love my strat (though it's slightly less forgiving).

Well since I already sealed the deal on an Epi LP, I have these planned for the not-so-immediate future:

    1. Flanger (MXR or Boss probably, maybe EHX polychorus if I feel like spending)
    2. Fulltone FD2 or OCD
    3. Fretboard Logic perhaps + accessories
    4. Pedalboard
    5. Boss Metal Zone (for fun)

Far as guitars go, these won't be for quite a while but I'd like:

    1. Gibson SG 61 RI
    2. American Deluxe Strat
    3. Taylor (210E maybe?)
    4. Epiphone Casino
    5. PRS McCarty Hollowbody I

It's a good amp, and I'm definitely satisfied with it. Some of the amp models are throwaways but there's a lot of great tones you can get out of it. Also the power selector is a lifesaver when practicing in the bedroom (which is all I do, actually). Definitely pick one up if you're looking for a nice inexpensive practice amp.

Damn college. I could get at least two of my choices if I didn't have to save all my money. Grrr.... :D

    How about yours?

Tiny Terrors are killer. Make sure what ever cabinet your playing thru is full of vintage 30's

  • Crap a few items on this list would change each week but here goes.

    1. 70's P-bass, not really picky on the year yet around '75 or so. Black block inlays on the maple, fantastic.
    2. Fulltone Bass Driver
    3. Old ampeg flip top, only will use the head though
    4. Buddy is coming up with a dual 12ax7, single EL34 circuit to build for me. About 7 watt's, will be awesome
    5. Avatar 2x12 cabinet packed with two Celestion 25 watt greenbacks.

Well that should take care of me for now!

VIntage White MIJ strat with spaghetti logo, actually, snagged that off ebay yesterday, shiuld arrive in a few days, got a really good price

Another KH-2 to keep in E standard, cos Buffy is always in Eb and the Floyd Rose makes it a bastard to change

Mesa Road King Head and 212, maybe in timber/wicker

A nice acoustic maybe, Gibson Firebird, dunno, will see what grabs me, maybe a Taylor, I'll pick teh one I like rather than deciding on a certain model.

MAybe another Les PAul, HIstoric like an R9 or R0, have to find one I like again, maybe a Gretsch White FAlcon instead, dunno

ooh, I like those TV yellow Les Paul Junior DC Specials too, not suer about that.

Bit of a wankers list in some way, but I would rather wait and have gear worth keeping. As I have said, guitars last decades adn become heirlooms, so quality is always worth buying, and never a cause for regret !!

well, my next "guitar purchase" is going to be a set of DR Blues .10 strings. after that....

    1. a BOSS overdrive pedal (I already have a OS2 and a Tubescreamer, but I'm still looking for a different sound)
    2. BOSS RC20XL

those are the only 2 definites I have right now.

as far as my next actual guitar purchase, I've had a Fender Strat for 10 years and I just got a Gibson Les Paul Standard in December. after doing so, it's safe to say my next guitar will also be a Gibson, most likely a Firebird but they need to drop the damn prices down because they're too expensive to be so far from Gibson's most popular guitar.

after owning 2 Fender amps, safe to say that my next amp will say Mesa on the front, if I ever decide to through that much money in an amp.

If you already have an OS2 and a Tubescreamer, you might try a couple of the Fulltone overdrives, like the Fulldrive 2 or the OCD. (http://www.fulltone.com)

There are also popular choices out there like the Barber Small Fry/Barber Direct Drive, and whatnot. Sure they're a little more expensive than the Boss but if you're looking for an inherently -different- sound, I think you should shy away from Boss.

+1 on the DR strings though, they're my choice now too.

Well, I'm selling a few this summer, which will open the doors for:

    1) A homemade clone of a Firebird (almost done)
    2) An assembled mahogany clone of a thinline Tele with P90s and a maple neck (body needs to be finished and I need pickups)
    3) A homemade clone of a Jazzmaster
    4) Either a Gibson SG or a Guild S-100
    5) A Gretsch of some kind

I hope to have 1-3 finished by the fall, 4 and 5 are very distant.

It's funny, Gibson makes a 3 pup guitar (H/S/S), no-one buys it, Fender makes a double humbuckers git, people stay away in droves.

Godddam companies just need to learn this and DO AS THEY ARE TOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
