Getting Started

I'm looking for advice on where to get started when it comes to learning how to play an acoustic guitar. I have had this guitar for 3 years and barely touched it. Should i start of with trying to play some tab music? Should i learn some cords? I have no experince playing instruments?

    Find a good teacher and start taking some lessons.

    Learn basic chords- D, A, C, G, E are the ones you'll need to know for most basic rock and roll songs.

    Teacher helps I guess but I started playing in January, haven't had a single lesson and I can already play bar chords and some minors.
    If idle hands are the devil's workshop, he must not be very productive.
