This has probably been asked but i looked back a few pages and didnt see anything.

Im about to buy one of those USB mic's to record some acoustic and electric guitar stuff on the computer.

I need to know which software would be best to do this and put basslines/drums along with the guitar.

I've heard of ones called Reason and Fruity Loops or something along those lines for doing both.

  • Audacity is free, Audacity.sourceforge.net

    Recording software is pretty expensive.

Search google for 'recording' software, some good free ones I've used.

    Thanks for the reply.

So what is it audacity does?.... The drum/bass lines?
For some reason i thought it was a recording program, lol.
  • Uh, it is a recording program. Add as many tracks as you want from your mic, export to mp3 or wav. What's this about drum and bass lines?

Well i dont have a drum kit or a bass... so id be recording my guitar onto the computer, then download drum beats/bass lines and editing it together with the guitar track.

If that doesnt make any sense either then sorry, lol.
  • That makes sense. If you know a place to download them, then just drag the file into audacity and layer it with the guitar. No big deal.
