What would be the key features or topics you would look for in a good all-around guitar resource web site to help you learn and improve your playing?
Cheers!

The best way to learn is taking lessons and having a knowledgable instructor.

There really is no substitute either.

Yeah, I understand that and believe that to be the case. I am talking more about a supplemental resource. Something you could turn to as a supplement to your lesson and your instructor.

Also, there are some people with limited time and/or a limited budget. Or those who like to learn on their own.

Anyway, there are some decent resources out there: Ultimate Guitar, Guitar.com, etc.

I'm just curious what types of content people find most useful.
    Cheers!

Go to http://www.Giventowail.com go to where it says lessons on the left (i think)

Read the section on chord theory, starting from the beginning.

also start playing some of the songs where it says PJ for beginners.

I would start by learning like Immortality or Betterman or something.

The next best thing? Stone's teacher.
  • I've used all the tab sites for years, but lately I've been using youtube to watch a performance of a song by the artist or a cover/lesson by someone to figure out how to play a song.

actually that's a good point, youtube can be helpful to work out how to play something if you can't quite figure it out yourself. Especially if the tab is wrong, unfortunately they are not all as good as GTW!
