Hughes & Kettner Amps

I'm in the process of looking for a new amp. This will be my first amp as I just started playing electric about a month ago. I am leaning towards a Vox Valvetronix, but have also seen some good reviews of the Hughes and Kettner Edition Blue amps. I am curious if anyone on here has any experience with H&K amps? I play an Epiphone LP Custom.
Cheers!

Since you just started I wouldn't be looking into getting a tube amp. To get a nice tube amp you will be spending a little bit more. I would recommend something like a Line 6...not the best amp but they have fun amps especially for people who just start out on electric. The Spider II 1x12 combo is a nice amp. My cousin has it and you can mess around with it a lot, it keeps the enjoyment of playing guitar. Stay away from the Marshall MG series and the Crates.
The Vox Valvetronix series is actually pretty nice as well, I would kind of recommend this a little more than the Line 6.
I've been playing for 8 months and I'm craving a tube sound. I reccomend getting a tube- used Hot Rod or Blues Jr. new is probably a good investment. You can get solid-state crunch with pedals through a tube amp, but it's really hard to replicate tube sound.

I've got a hughes and kettner triamp head and i can give you my strongest recommendation. It's got brilliant rich cleans, great solid rock/blues tones and brutal metal sounds. Nothing it can't do but it comes with a massive price tag! (put myself in massive credit card debt to afford it)
They're a good investment for the quality you get and they seem to be well sought after on the second hand market if you ever need to sell.
Definately worth the money.
If you can get a decent H&K for a good price then definately go for it, however considering your budget i'm thinking that a H&K may not be a realistic possibility.
Definately steer clear of anything line6... probably the worst value for money out there. The spider series are probably one of the worst sounding amps i've ever heard.
For your budget i'd recommend finding an old marshall "vs65r" on ebay (great for a first amp and a good bargain)... don't go for the newer "AVT" models coz they suck the balls.
