Purchasing a guitar from China?

I am curious if anyone has any experience either purchasing a guitar from china through Ebay or other means. I am looking to purchase an Epiphone Les Paul Custom and possibly an amp as well (Fender Blues Jr. or a Marshall).
Anyway, my cousin does business in China (Beijing) and will be traveling over there in the next few months. So, I thought I'd check to see if I could get a deal as I'd be able to ship it back here relatively cheap.

I'm a guitar newbs though.....
From what I hear the Japanese make some great stuff......Fender-wise. Fender, made in Japan.....not a copy.
