I just got this a couple weeks ago from the money I saved up from graduation. I've played a lot of guitars since I bought my first one 10 years ago, and this is easily the best guitar I've ever played.

:D

It's WELL worth the money.

This will be my next purchase (in white):

    Thats a real nice guitar....
    Conversations getting dull
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
    And I'm bored to tears.......

Dat's purdy !! Yes, lots of SG love here for good reason.
Remember that lots of rubber stuff on stands can burn nitro finishes if the guitar is left there a lot. Tends to happen in stores where they are left hanging for months.
    Music is not a competetion.

I never was an SG guy but I started loving them in the last 6 months or so. I think it was seeing Derek Trucks and Clapton use them that took away the whole "metal" image for me. I plan on buying this not long after I graduate college and start making some $.

Wow, I'm getting major SG envy over here. The '61 SG in Cherry has been on my list for a long time (well over a year and a half). Extremely beautiful guitar. If I had 2k to drop on a single guitar, that would probably be it. Congrats, treat it nicely. Like Lucy said, unless you're going to put it down and pick it up relatively quickly, keep it off the stand and in a case. You don't want to mess up the finish on that, it's a sin!!!!

    Thanks guys!

Yeah, seeing Ian Mackaye's (of Fugazi) use his 70's white Standard is what first turned me on to the SG: http://www.ndkoster.com/music/imgmusic/fugazi_image1.jpg
