just bought a Fostex VF08 recorder used?

It's my first recorder so i am trying to get the hang of it. So far i'm really like it I just wanted something for demos and ideas. seem like the perfect machine any advice?

    There is going to be a dozen different opinions. The best bet is to put on a set of head phones, start playing, while a friend moves the mic around to different locations to you find the sweet spot. You have many choices. If you have a open back cabinet don't for get to give it a shot from behind in the same fashion.
