Need info on Digital 8 tracks?

Never used recording equipment before. Where should I start? My range is 400-to 600 dollars. any info advice brands?

  • Yamahas are good, Rolands are good, Korgs are better, Bosses are easy, Zooms are good value and Fostex are rubbish. That's about it, I think.

  • The only reason you might need a CD burner is if you were recording on location (say, a rehearsal) and wanted to spit out a CD right there and then. I wouldn't worry about it. If you've got a computer with a burner and a USB port, you've got everything you need.
