So...

I'm a student on a limited budget. I decided I'm going to save some money to purchase one of several options:

Epi Casino (~$600)
New Amp, probably Fender HRD (~$600)
Buy parts and build my own solid-body (hollow body would probably be too difficult) (no cost estimate).

Anyone have suggestions? I have a MIM Strat and a decent practice amp, so I don't know whether getting a different guitar or upgrading amp will make all the difference in the sound of my playing. I could also probably upgrade the pickups in my strat if I built a guitar.

I would buy the New amp, then guitar, then upgrade your strat.

There are better amps in the $600 range than the HRD. Check out Traynor amps.
