I bought a little vox pathfinder amp some months ago because my marshall was just so damn noisy.....static and crackling, especially when i didnt have my hands on the strings. anyway, the vox is a great little amp but it too is now getting noisy on me. what does this sound like?

would a problem in the electronics on my tele cause my amps to go to shit?
I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.

Maybe its just the usual interference you get, the 60 cycle hum and all that. You said tele so I'm going to assume its single coil pickups. My Strat picks up noise when only one pickup is on.
  • will upgrading pickups help out?

this is a mexi tele so im sure the standard pickups arent the best. i have been thinking about getting this baby fixed up a bit anyway. any recommendations on pickups? i love the guitar and still want it to sound like a tele.

teles are naturally pretty noisy guitars anyway i find
I'm not saying stupidity should be a capital offence, but what say we take the safety labels off everything and let nature run it's course?
  • It sounds like your guitar is not properly "Grounded" or "shielded" google these for methods. Also flurescent lighting, computers, poor building wiring or overloading a socket can cause noise. Trying moving to a different room. Also cable's can become microphonic especially if they are cheap, so can pickups. How old is your guitar?
