cymbal wackyness

Anyone else have the desire to take one of their old cracked cymbals, drill 20 holes into it and put random thin chains and bolts on it for a unique trashy sound? I want to attach bolts with pennies glued to the head just to see the sound.

    Sounds like a good idea. I have a 16" Sabian AAX Crash with a hole in the bell. I still use it when i want a crash that dies out fast. I think i might start experimenting with it

    Yeah, I think I'm going to take my cracked old 16" sabian crash and drill near an inch or so away from the bell edge, so the rest of the cymbal still has its crash sound, and this would rattle with it. I fear if I put too much stuff around the edge, it'll dampen the sound all together.

    BTW - On that show "how it's made" they show 8 minutes of Zildjian making cymbals. Pretty cool.
