Anyone here have any experience recording on this? I've heard nothing but good things about this DAW recorder and wanted to know if it lives up to the hype. The only negative thing I've heard about it was the learning curve of figuring it out, but also heard the instructional DVD does help make things more clear.

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Hey i've got the vs-2400CD and have nothing but great things to say about this very affordable DAW with great quality to it.

I assume the 2480 has a few more features (i think it has a dvd writer actually)

    Some main pointers:

Get yourself some good microphones to ensure the best quality
look on ebay for the Roland SI-24 expansion board so you can have 16 "live to tape" at once instead of just 8 inputs
get yourself the vs8f3 expansion card
and make sure you have a monitor

Other than that, it's worth every penny I love my vs2400!

    enjoy

it is a little hard to figure out, roland's tech support is very good and I do not have the instructional dvd but i should get it haha

Thanks for the info. Yeah, they have the 2480 cd and the 2480 dvd. I was going to get the 2480 cd, it goes for about $3500 brand new, but you can get them new on Ebay for like $1300-2200. I definitely would want to get the upgrades and the monitor. I have read some reviews on it from pro musicians that have said that they actually prefer some of the mixes recorded on that to remixing them in a pro studio. I am sure it takes a little practice and experience to get it completely down. I am by no means a pro, but want something better than a 4 track analog tape. I have been doing a lot of research as to find the best solution for my needs. I am not sold on this yet, but it looks promissing. I am not ruleing out a computer system either, though this is technically a computer, I am still trying to figure the most affordable way for me to get that quality I am searching for. As for mics, I have Mogami cables and currently an Audix OM2 mic, but will be getting a tube studio condenser mic in the near future.

Well, if you only have or are getting 2 mics, there's no need for the si-24 for you yet

I use all 16 tracks at once because with the headphone out into a headphone amplifier I have my band rehearsals there (which is so much more accurate sounding than taping any PA rehearsal hah!)
    9/29/96, 8/29/98, 9/8,11/98, 7/28/99, 8/23,24,25/00, 10/13/00, 4/15/03, 4/30/03, 7/8,9,12,14/03, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 5/4,5,13,27,28/06, 6/1,3/06, 6/19,20,22,24,25,27/08, 7/1/08, 8/4,5,7,16/08, 8/21/09, 10/27,28,30,31/09, 5/15,17,18,20,21/10, 9/2/12, 10/18,19,21,22,25/13

Ah, I see. Yeah I am a one man band and occaisionally write songs with a friend of mine, so tops there is two of us. We both love different instruments so if I do purchase this, I am happy about being able to import acoustic drums and other instrument wav files.
