Question About Recording

Hey guys!!

Just curious if anyone knows anyway to record guitar off of my computer??

Just to hear myself play...i mean like just using stock stuff, like, can i record with Media Player for example?? Or something like that??

I don't have a mic so maybe i need that...but is there anything on my comp. or on the internet that allows me to do this??

    I'm pretty sure that there are some free recording programs out there, but you will need a way into your computer with the guitar.

    The guitar is an analog signal. If you want to record that signal on your computer, you will need to convert that sound into a digital signal. If your computer does not have a microphone input, you will need something like the Digidesign M-Box, which is what I would recommend for anyone who wants a modest but powerful interface for your purposes.

    Mbox is awesome I don't know anyone who dosen't love thiers, but if you're mainly looking to jam, try the line6 guitar port. It's pretty cheap and upgradeable and you'll have a few models to play around with. http://www.line6.com

    I did a whole demo with nothing but my built in mic and garageband.

    Sorry, for some reason the link only works on my mac, but doesn't work for my PC. The song I tried to link to was called "Mood", which is just a quick recording of slow fingerpicking with some wankery blues guitar over top of it. It has no computer generated effects or mixing done to it. Just a quick sound-on-sound recording. All of the rest of the tracks on the site were done in the same method, but with a little more processing. (The only exception being the live track at the end).
