I'm starting to think that my Traynor may be a lemon.

The reverb has flat out stopped working. Don't know why, and I'm awaiting a response from their customer service. It also ate one power amp tube and one pre amp tube faster than I've ever seen before!
It's already gone back to factory once before to replace something to do with the tube sockets and transformer when it wouldn't stop feedbacking, and the LEDs were out of control about 3 years ago. Then it was under warranty, so I didn't have to worry about it.
Fast forward to the present:
The store I bought the amp closed down when the owner had made enough money to golf for the rest of his life (He's played in some pretty successful bands), and it's not under warranty. I already know that it's going to get sent back to the factory, and I'm going to have to face the brunt (all) of the shipping, labour and parts costs.
I'm hoping Traynor will just send me out a new one for free! But, I highly doubt that...

This could have an effect on my purchase......
I'm still so torn between the YCV 40 and the Fender Deluxe??

If it means anything to you, I've never heard of anyone's breaking down other than mine.
Oh great thanks!!
I'm gunna go with whatever feels right either way, I really do like the Deluxe!!

Oh, I'd go out and buy a nice new Bogner tommorow if I wasn't a poor college bum.
Give me 2 and a half years and we'll have the Bogner conversation again.
although ive had mine for only 8 months...its a year old...and there had never been a problem with it...still the original tubes and everything
the only thing that im having a problem with is that on the footswitch sometimes the boost goes on and sometimes it doesnt go on when i hit it
its not traynors fault, its mine...i throw my footswitch everywhere...lol
traynor gave me a list of things they can do for me but they wont have a deffinant answer for 24-48 hours
That's the only advice they could give me. I've been redirected to an amp tech here in London.
Don't know how I'm going to pay for this one!
We'll find a way.
I couldn't really tell the difference between the YCV40 and the 50Blue??
HHV DF??

I think so too, but everything will have to go on hold until sometime in the summer. Everytime I think I'm about to be able to afford some new gear, I get bombarded by bills from landlords, electric companies, insurance companies, Pearl Jam tours, etc etc...
I can't do anything about this amp until I get my credit card back down to a reasonable level, which is in the plans for the next two weeks worth of pay cheques.
The government owes me a big wad of cash, and I should be getting back a 'damage deposit' I paid on my current apartment when I move out in two months. I also should have a fairly decent summer job [of which I should save money made for school], that will give me some spending money.
I just figure that all the gear I want now, and that I can't afford, I'll make up for when I graduate.
I find the gain on the Blue to be more Marshall like. Thicker, transparent and responsive to picking.
Essentially my conclusions have been: YCV40 - better clean, trying to emulate a Fender while the YCV50 - better gain, and it trying to emulate a Marshall.
You can take the word 'emulate' with a grain of sand though. I think they're different in their own ways, but it seems as though this is the best way to describe it.
That's just my opinion.
Awesome thanks!!
People have been telling me to really base my buy on the amp's clean channel, because if you have a good clean the rest is up for grabs sorta.
It makes sense, and if that's the case, the Fender's clean is immaculate.
I really like the OD channels on both the Deluxe and YCV though but the Deluxe seems more "Ledbetter Benaroya" if you know what i mean?
I was also curious how my DS-1 would sound on the Deluxe and the YCV?

if you turn it a louder than a bedroom volume...as in volume 3 or higher, you will notice the difference
the 50BLUE IMO is more of a british voxy/orange/vintage marshall sound
i gotta tell you though, ive never heard an overdrive better than what I got going right now...with the OCD over the OD on the amp
i had a DS-2 before I got the YCV40 cuz i used a shitty mini marshall mg amp...i played it with the YCV40 when I first got it...IMO it was horrible...lol

I have a Fender Blues Junior, which only has a clean channel, but a master and volume knob, so you can overdrive it while keeping the volume low. I use a DS-2 and I think it sounds pretty good through it.
the crap mic i got sounds like shit, maybe i should still post some clips
Do it anyways! I record through my iBook mic.
i got this sweet ass tone of an Ed sound overdriven Immortality sound...i think that would be recorded well on my computer...
you have a site i can upload to?
Those are the amp's being used in the clips??

As far as I know, yeah. The 40WR ones, the metal 50BLUE one and the YCV80 ones for sure. The live ones I'm 95% sure. I think he said that he was using the 50BLUE at that gig.
Who's gig was it??

I don't know his real name, but his Harmony-Central username is RandyVanSykes. His band is called New York Minute. He's from St. Catherines I believe.
I remember when he got his 50BLUE, the forum just erupted with the clips he posted. I think he's personally responsible for selling like 50 of them to people who post on Harmony Central.
Edit: Those live clips may be a Marshall Superlead, but I'm going to find out right now.
let me see if i have something else
I'm going back in this weekend to try them out, I already have HHV's WR settings, but would you recommend anything also??
Settings or anything like that??? For the 50BLUE and YCV40
