What's some good years for a Strat?

I'm going to buy one in the summer and I want to get a good condition used one. I played a couple new ones in the store yesterday and I wasn't as impressed as I was with the older ones I've played before.
In a perfect world, I would buy a 57' reissue, but that's just not in the cards now.
What are the good years for newer strats (1991--->)?

Frank, if theres one question i can answer on here suffeciently, its this one! (thanks by the way, i finally get my chance to babble) My first question is....What is yoru price range (i see yoru in canada, i can relate much better) Also, are you looking for a "new" one (just regular production from said years) or a "Reissue/ or special edition" from those years? This will help alot. Im asumign your right handed too?

This is what i could find from http://www.songbirdmusic.com thier inventory changes constantly, but definately the best place to find vinatge/used guitars in Canada. It is all VERY well priced to. That 1957 reissue you mentioned is available for a decent price, but its consignment so you would not be able to cut a deal. This is what I could find, any new strats are generally all the same price at bigger stores, Personally i woudl stay away from ebay,i got burned once and its to much of a commitment to base on pictures. Anyways, i hope you like those axes, i have PLENTY of more resources if you woudl like them, cheers

Awesome, thanks man. Looks like I'm going to go to Toronto sometime in the summer to this place. I played one of those Clapton strats, a 97 I think, and it was awesome! It sounded so nice and played like a dream. They wanted a lot of money for it though, like $2500.0 -

yes this place is this shit i must say, a nice place for middle road vintage stuff, nothing is immaculate, but can suit the wallet of the average player, they have killer amps too. JTM60 there that i was interested in. Also so nice 70's fenders

I noticed that they have a YCV80 on consignment for like 750.
I was told that the most I could get would be like 500 bucks. Maybe I'll sell it privately instead. Hopefully get like $675- 725 area.0 -
I think I've actually been to Songbird in Ottawa now that I think about.0

yeah a jap reissue might be a good bet. I really think it's individual. I think you are going to need to search for a good one. If you really like the 57 classics I suggest you look into the Jimmy Vaughn strat, it's not a USA strat but it's one of the better players in the mix. You'll find plenty of american standards in the price range as well, any and all are good platforms for modification if you so choose. Basically when you find a good one, one that does all the stuff you feel like it should you know. Also look at G&L Fullertons and the Legacy. You can get them in the 650 range sometimes. Great guitars.
Also, if you want to build your own to spec (with limited options) one of the best bargains you can buy in a strat right now are the folks out at http://www.carvin.com
You can also go strait custom for less if you build it yourself using http://www.stewmac.com http://www.warmoth.com and or http://www.usacustomguitars.com
http://www.glguitars.comMy Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0
