Oh my, they dropped the leash.
Morgan Freeman/Clint Eastwood 08' for President!

there's a very large brown amplifier sitting right to the left of the guitar.

It's really unbelievable at first. Look at the shape it is in!
The story seems really cool, but as far as I know, the auction is REAL. I got the link from HC guitar forum, and there were a few sceptics, but it's essentially accepted as real.
If I won a million dollar, I would buy that.
You're looking at the guitar that Jesus would have played if he played guitar.
in my brothers band this guy has this like $1500 amp, not sure if thats expensive, but it was like a stadium amp and stuff, and like playing pj songs almost blew the house down

Great auction! I saw it a few days ago and tried to put a bid in at about $50,000 just for the hell of it, because I knew it would have been higher, but the site was so slow it wouldn't take it.
That's sort of like the holy grail/ "back of the closet for 50 years" find!
$75,000! and what cracked me up, is that when it sold, the little box under it said:
"Similar items for auction" http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7382609822&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX

HAhahaha! That's similar items is priceless!
I cracked up when I saw that!
Her story sounds good,,, but I always wonder if it's really some sleazy dealer making something up. It seems legit, though, and it seems like she's someone who deserves it. I feel good for her!
There sure were a lot of comments on that guitar!

She had it authenticated by that one reputable guy, whos name I can't remember. I'm sure that he'd be the one to contact first if I was going to spend 55 000.

I wish that was me....
if you had a real fender that was that old, would you put it on ebay????
WOULD YOU SHIP IT???
I'de go to a real auction.
If that thing is real, it must be one of the most pristine vintage guitars in existance.
wear a pink shirt and go down the boozer
She was adamantly NOT shipping it, though.
She had it verified by George Gruhn, so if I bought it on Ebay for $75,000 I would drive to Nashville and get George, then drive up to Nebraska with him to the guitar, let him and the owner fight it out before I handed over THAT kind of money!
There are a lot of scam Fenders out there, too. It's easy with all the home made aging processes and old looking parts.
That being said,
If it's real, that's one of the coolest guitars in the world!!!

Yeah, I was checking him out. Yup, no one will ever play that guitar again.
Maybe Billy Gibbons has a shot at it, too! Hopefully he'll get it before Segal.

I'm not sure I'd pay that kind of money, even if I had it, to someone on ebay without going to look at the guitar personally, and inspected by a professional. But, that is one helluva guitar!
