My order from Stewmac arrived today.

Replaced the tuners on my Les Paul with gold keystone Gotohs 18:1.

Probably one of the easiest DIY there is.

    :)

I just ordered the Grover Locking tuners to put into my Les Paul, I'm hoping they fit with a minimum of modification to the guitar. Did you have to drill the joles any larger, or did the Gotohs fit in?

  • The Gotohs fit right in, suprisingly...

They're essentially the same aestically as before; keystone tuners, but with a higher winding ratio. I think that the generic parts that were on the guitar are based on these.

I think with Les Paul's most of the 3 right, 3 left tuners will fit in place.

I'm happy I didn't have to get holes drilled though, as it would have cost a ton probably.

The shop I go to charges $35.00 to install tuners, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense if they don't have to drill to do it.

Like I said, it's a really really easy DIY. Just screw it in, get it flush, and add the locking washer and (bolt?).
