Does Leaving your patch cables on your pedals sap your batteries?

If you leave them in the input, yes. Leaving the cable in the output does nothing though. I'm not sure about true bypass pedals, but most will drain the batteries if the cables are left in the input.

same with true bypass effects, still need to unplug the input.0

yep, input will drain.
Output will not.
There are mods to fix this if you are running non ac adaptor pedals. Analogman offers it on his pedals. One knob becomes an on/off switch, turn it CCW to off and CW to on and to set the value. It is the best mod and more builders should do it.
Some of my pedals just sound like crap when using a power supply so the unplugging is actually a huge PITA.WHAT IS THAT NOISE?
