Would I be able to put a Bigsby on my Jazzmaster..?

I'm sure this would take some complex handywork, but Neil Young has inspired me to use a Bigsbyvibrato tailpiece.

So...would I be able to put this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/360120/

On a Jazzmaster?

If anybody can give me some advice but needs to see a picture of my guitar, I can find you one.

Thanks a lot.

sure it's possible, but it's complicated. Might be pretty tough.

Ask around http://www.projectguitar.com and see if you can't find a tech to advise you.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

My guitar teacher would be able to do it for me...but do you think tht tailpiece would fit a Jazzmaster, or would I need to find another?

Definitely possible, definitely difficult. The big problem is if your Jazz has a tremolo already, working around the original tailpiece/tremolo cavity would be complicated. In fact, that cavity may need to be filled in before the Bigsby could be installed. At that point, you're talking about having a luthier work on it.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

    check out bigsby's website.

they have a place where you can see what tail pieces match with what guitars..

I think you can do it fairly easily. I don't see why not,,, but I wouldn't if you're happy with the tremelo you've got now.

Bigsby makes a model,,, I think it's the B5 or something like that, that will fit on a flat bodied guitar. I've put them on Telecasters before, but never a Jazzmaster.
It goes on with 4 screws right onto the body, ,,, it just has to go into the right place. It has to be a model that'll let the strings bend over the bridge. Too tall and the strings won't bend over the bridge saddles.

Like MIG says, you may have to fill in the present trem cavity, which is probably a job for a luthier. It'll be more subtle tremelo than the one you have on there now.

To tell you the truth, I don't think I'd do it unless your present trem is absolutely bad.

    Found it! :D

I actually bet it would fit right on a Jazzmaster. The screw holes on the Bigsby look like they're outside of the Jazzmaster trem cavity. You still have to fill in the hole, though.

The question is: which of the 2 tremelos, that don't return to pitch, do you like the best? The Jazzmaster or the Bigsby! :D You have to finesse them both to bring'm back to pitch!

Thanks, I'll see what my teacher thinks and then make a decision!
