Best Amp for 400 bucks?

Hey,

I've been saving all my money from all my graduation presents, and I'm in the market now to buy a new amp. what would you guys recommend for UP to 400 bucks?

I'm Playing an Ibanez SZ750.

and would love to sound as close to Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, nirvana, and the rest of the Grunge bands. thanks alot!!

    Peavey Classic 30 with a good overdrive pedal and a good distortion pedal.

    VOX Valvetronix, closed back combo.

    Or, used Yamaha T50 and some kind of 2x12.

    Or, used Line 6 duoverb combo.

    I got a 50 watt all tube Sunn amp 3 years ago for about 400$ or so.....Sunn is not doing much any more but dont worry....just look around for some sales...get a tube amp....enough said. You might want to jack it up to 500$ just to be safe. Ive heard alot of good things about the Peaveys.....just be patient and the right amp will find you.

    The prices are going up, I keep an eye on them and the recent VG article didn't help. I think you could snag an old Hiwatt for the same money now, probably around 700-800 bones.

    Yah, I am always looking for a steal on a DR504. I want to haev a HIWATT head/cab evetually. BUt I usually find that the DR504 always sneaks up to 1 grand unless its really beat up.

    if that stays under 550 it would be a good deal. Especially if you like your distortion.
