Where can I download some decent recording software?

Preferably shareware. Currently I'm using good ol' Microsoft Sound recorder from my guitar amp. It does the trick but I'd like to add some more effects and touch it up a little. Any suggestions?

yeah, i'm coughing too. (limewire) do a search for cakewalk. they have this cool program called music creator pro 24 2004. i like it. has everything.
