i have this trouble, i hear a scratch in the middle of the run.
it's a crybabe 585 or something.
what is it?

most likely the potentiometer wearing out. or at least getting dirty.

a little shot of WD40 into the stem might cure it. there are proper electronics cleaners as well but WD40 is more readily available.
even if you had to replace the pot, it's a minor repair. the pedal isn't doomed by any means.

It's definately a dirty pot. I have this problem too.
Take care of it with the cleaner now or you'll have to replace the pot, which can be hard if you don't know where to get the part.

I used to have that problem with my first wah wah pedal, a Cry Baby. Until I applied the old WD40, my wah wah was more a scratch scratch pedal.
