Question about mikes whale sounds

Ha, yes...so you guys know what i mean? Mike has mastered it and not just in the whale song.

Ive got pretty close using my e-bow but there is something missing...any tips?

Maybe some wah "woman-tone" setting? Using the e-bow should get you there, though.

you dont need an e-bow to do it. i can do it without e-bow or just with careful use rubbing a light bulb or mic stand or something against the strings

you need a delay. Wah helps give it more life too.

and just to clear it up, Ed does the whale sounds in whale song.

i also love the octave swoops he does a lot on the division bell.. how the hell does he make it swoop like that? is there an octave pedal like a volume and wah?

My guess is slide, combined with delay and wah and volume swells.
