3 tone pots on a strat

Hi im new to wiring guitars and i recently purchased a Dimarzio fast track 2. I have a strat nock off, I know its junk but i love its feel. Anyways, I bought a 500k audio pot (said that it could be either a volume pot or tone pot) to replace my current volume pot and open up my higher end with this pick up. When i wired it like the old one it acted like a tone pot. now i have three tone pots and no volume. Does anyone have an idea of what i might have done wrong?
(This pot is like a basic strat pot with the 3 prongs)
