im going to buy my new acoustic on sunday (GR500M Epiphone Masterbuilt), and it doesent have a pickup so i was looking at fishman ones and Braggs...

heres the fishman....

i dont think it needs a preamp because it talks about a battery

and then the Braggs one is a similar "in bridge" pickup

which would you choose?

thanks

i use baggs active i-beams in all my acoustics and am very happy with them. they work well for recording and people complemented me on the live sound when i was gigging.

very non-invasive installation and sounds better than the under bridge piezos. one less hole to drill as well since it sticks inside the guitar under the bridge.

in general, the soundboard transducer are more true i feel.

needs a bit of outboard EQ depending on the guitar but it's better than cutting a giant hole in the instrument for onboard EQ.

I have a Schatten Design HFN Artist pickup in my little parlor guitar and it sounds awesome! My local guitar tech turned me onto this design, and I've loved it ever since. I'd at least give it a look... the Artist model has a preamp, just a generic Fishman-type signal boost.

...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
