Want to learn piano

i want to learn the piano...like i know some songs that friends have taught me like "getting in tune". But i was wondering..i dont wanna play like really good classical just basic chords for rock like after the goldrush.

my birthday is comming up and figured that i may want a piano
should i get one of those yamaha uprights and totally splurge in hopes that i get better?

or should i get a cheaper electric one (electric..NOT digital) like the Yamaha CP-25, i saw this in guitar center for 299$. I played it a little bit on the "piano" setting and it sounded pretty similar to an acoustic piano, does it really though?
