in the UK they never left, in the US in name only. Fernandes music corp owns the rights to the name Hiwatt in the US. The bulldog 40 is a great amp from them but that's about the only offering besides korean made knock offs.

In the UK its the same as it ever was. In the US Hiwatts go under the name "Reeves Amplification" As in Dave Reeves the DR in DR504 for instance. Though I think they may be seperate companies alltogether they are essentialy the same amplifier branded differently.

Harry Joyce was a hiwatt pioneer along with Dave Reeves and I think you can still buy Harry Joyce Amps around as well. I know Rich Robinson is currently using them on tour with the Black Crowes.

Matamp England builds a very similar unit called the New England Classic.

    This is Reeves Amps

I really like the new Power Scaling (from the london power geniuses) models like the Custom 18 and Custom 30. Because the pricing is very nice for amps of this quality and the size is good for most of us not playing arenas.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
