If you find a D-28 in that price range....snatch it up! No, you will not find one in that price range.

You can get a good guitar for that price. Look for one with a Solid wood top...if it does nothave that, don't spend your money.

I have a Breedlove. My breedlove is great. They have an Altus series that is not as expensive as their standard models. They are pretty good.

    Alvarez also makes good accoustics.

I have always found that Yamaha acoustics are pretty decent for the price you pay! You would easily get a solid top for that sort of money
  • i was looking at this martin..

that's a decent martin, the best ones are all solid wood top back and sides.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

In regards to Gibson you won't find one under around 1250.

Epiphone Masterbuilt (a gibson company) has some outstanding guitars in the 5 or 600 dollar realm. I played one sunday that was very resonant and rich sounding. It had a rosewood back and sides spruce top.

Spruce is a slightly brighter wood than mahogany which is warmer, A spruce top and a Mahogany back and sides are a good marrage and if you want an even fuller sound you can go to a rosewood back and sides with a spruce top.

If you are looking for a bright even sound you might go with an entirely maple guitar or a maple back and sides with a spruce top.

Play a lot of stuff, I think you'll find the non laminates considerably more expensive but also more resonant, but you can find an excellent guitar in the 5 to 600 range.

I've got a Simon and Patrick Pro Mohogany. It has a solid cedar top as well as a solid mahogany back and neck...It's my only acoustic and frankly im quite content with it and have no plans replacing it...the build quality is great and it sounds fantastic... I picked mine up for $400CDN used, and i think they retail at around $800CDN new....

They are built in Canada by the Godin guitar company....Definitly worth looking into..
  • im gonna revive my thread...

so after looking online for a bit i saw this martin

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/514702/

i was kindof skeptical becasue its not all solid consturction and a little over my price range.

then i was looking at the epiphones

    http://www.music123.com/Epiphone-EJ300S-i114949.music

    spruce top, rosewood sides..

    here is the 500p masterbuilt

    http://www.music123.com/Epiphone-DR-500P-Masterbuilt-Acoustic-Guitar-i153203.music

seems like a nice dreadnought...it says solid wood construction..but i dont know if that means solid wood and sides as well

and the john lennon which looks nice...but i hear the electronics are kindof just to look good...

    wow alot of stuff....okay

well i play alot of neil young (harvest moon, alot of rust never sleeps...that kinda stuff), play some acoustic pearl jam, bob dylan ect.. so i want something that covers that range..

thanks for reading it...i appreciate it
