like the headphones mics excetera.

What kind of amp is Stone using on SNL, Letterman? Not the Marshall 1974x, but the other combo, it looks like some type of older Fender, but I can't make a positive ID!

Stone's played two Peavey Delta Blues the last couple tours...those are only 500 dollar amps.

Ed's amps are now right in front of the drum riser, three tweed Fenders that are tilted back, so they're lower-profile. The Fender next to Stone's Marshall is Stone's as well.

As for Stone's Marshall, it is almost certainly the 1974X combo:

    and not the Bluesbreaker:

Nope that mic is slightly off center, as if they are miking a single 12. Bluesbreakers are cool, 18 watt Marshall 1974x are cooler, JTM 45's are the coolest.

I thought the same thing... that Stone had a Bluesbreaker and a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 2x12... but looking closer, it is definitely the 18-watt 1x12 next to a Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12. Easy mistake to make, they look so similar.

Least it sounds like he might of replaced the hot rod with a twin on the tour. Hope so. I'm just not a fan of the hot rod series at all. Big fender fan, but not a Hot rod fan. Man I'm high maintanence.

I love the Hot Rod amps. They have a really nice, full clean tone, and they take pedals *extremely* well. I've never been a channel-switcher, so I would never use the drive channel, even if it was any good. But if Stone has a Twin, that's a good choice as well...

Peavey is the most underrated amp company in the WORLD. Put a Delta Blues up against many high end boutiqe types... Crazy. Maybe change the speaker. That whole classic series they build is amazing. I saw Prince last year and he was playing Classic 50's!

I'm a huge peavey fan too, I'm not sure about the comparing to high end boutique amps, but I still think they are fantastic. Classic 50's, 30's & 20's are awesome. And there is always a descent price.

I Say that as someone who has owned Bad Cat's, THD's and a Diesel. THere is only so much you can do to a tube amp. Once I had a guy challenge me to bring my Bad Cat into his store and A/B with the Peavey Delta Blues... Clean tones... I ebayed the Bad Cat the next week. There is this myth that Peavey is still some sort of "budget company". That just isn't the case in 2006. Maybe in 1980, but not now.. THey are still owned by the man that started them, and they try to build great gear at great prices... I am a total fanboy now.

I can see what your saying there. I was being the "angel and devil" to a friend back when he was looking for something low wattage and all tube. Was leaning towards the 1974x and the Dr Z 18 watter. Played that 1974x for about an hour, and I was just in love with that dang amp. Played the 2 12 Dr. Z and I only heard one descent tone out of it (To my ears) and thats when it was getting pushed (Ah mild power tube distortion). I looked over and seen a Buddha they were trying to dump. We plugged into that and I was just plain disgusted, and couldn't believe how little pleasant it was. The sales guy was all over loveing it, but my buddy and I just stared at each other and shook our head. I could of put a peavey up against the Dr. Z and the Buddha and picked the peavey over them both for sure (Wow I"m going to get ripped to death for saying that about the Dr. Z). He bought the Z (liked the tube response out of it etc.) and took it back the next day, cause it just wasn't doing the trick.

Ended up going and getting a cloned 1974x for more than 1/2 the marshall price.
