Maybe mic preamps, or power amps/conditioners. Can't imagine what else.

As far as the cable, definetely not monster. My guess would be George L's, but it looks more like a Horizon or Core X2

Does anyone know what mics those are on the guitar cabs?
    Riverside.. LA.. California. EV?

I haven't a clue what make that lead is, but if you're looking for a good long-lasting lead I recommend Planet Waves.

I've had two planet waves ends go on me.

Good thing about them is, they give you a new one whenever one breaks.

The difference is that back then $2 radioshack cables were still made in the US with metal ends, unlike the molded plastic made in china stuff they sell now. It is a great point though. I have a Steve Vai signature Horizon cable that is Nitrogen purged and has gold plated ends and... you guessed it, it sounds the same as the 3 for $20 specials I found on ebay. The key to any cable is the jack itself.
  • The brand of cable doesn't matter as much as the manufacturer of the ends. Look for Switchcraft or Neutrik.

    see http://www.lavacable.com

they will make them to your specs from several different excellent brands, and you can get the great new Neutrik silent plugs on your guitar end.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

  • The cable looks to me like it was specifically made for Ed by one of the guitar techs. The plug looks to me like a 1/4" speaker jack plug that's been fitted onto a heavy-duty guitar cable. Which is distinct from using a speaker cable in place of a guitar cable, which would not be advisable. If you want a cable like that, I'd suggest finding a decent music or electronic repair shop and getting them to put hefty 1/4" speaker terminals on some decent guitar cable (if you know how to solder, you can do it yourself).

The items directly underneath Stone's little Marshall are five Avalon D.I. boxes, most likely for his selection of acoustic instruments, and a power conditioner at the top.

The drum machine used for "You Are" is actually a drum sequencer that is put in a guitar chain. While Matt played it on the album, Stone plays it live. You can see the "You Are" machine below the microphone on Stone's amp, looks like it's one of the plder Korg Electribe models to me.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

    Thanks for the confirmation!
