It looks like a Fender Jaguar made of Lego. :D

Is that the guitar the guy from the white stripes uses?

    Really, why. . .
Because Jack White (John Gillis) plays one???
The NEW Airlines are really quite awful guitars.
They play terrible -- have you played one???
I think you can do much better for $700.
Well, just make sure you really play one before you spend the $$.

I'm not sure how big of a Jack White fan you are to spend $900 on his guitar, but I think if you already acknowledge that it sounds (and probably plays) like shit, you're gonna miss that $900 later.

isn't the guitar that Jack White plays made out of plastic or fiberglass? if so, it's not even the same guitar, just looks the same.

pretty much... plus i think it looks cool as fuck!

ok... i admit i have a Jack White appreciation thing going on.. but then most of the guitar players on here post "how do i get Stone's sound" and "what hair dye colour does Mike use" and other such guitary questions ;) ... so i'm just posting in the same vain :)

i just like the look of it... but i agree i could get a far better guitar for the money.. but then every fucker has a Strat and i loathe strats.. ;)

Okay . . . hey, you want an Airline, buy it -- I mean who are we to judge, buy what you want.
I'll never tell anyone to only buy this or that -- Personally I went through a few Fender phases:
    - I really wanted a Strat (so I bought a '96 50th Anniversary Plus Deluxe, and about 15 Fenders the following year).
    - Then the need to own a Strat kind of wore off because it seemed like everyone had one.
    - Then it got to a point where I hated Fender (my Les Paul/PRS phase - sold almost all Fenders that I owned - mistake).
    - Then I just didn't care (bought and sold many Fenders that year).
    - Then I started to really like Fenders again (bought about 12 that year).
    - Now I'm back to not worrying about them - if I really want one and I have the $$ I'll buy it.
Funny but since '96 (since I bought my first Fender) I've only owned USA models.
So in all honesty I can't compare foreign Strats vs. Made In USA.

All I mean by this is the love/hate relationship you have with Fender changes.
You'll probably kick yourself in a few years (you can get a USA Strat/Tele/Ect for the price of an Airline).
But get what you want to get - as I said in the beginning "who are we to judge".
You said it yourself, THEY SOUND LIKE SHITE - so it makes me wonder . . . why bother.
    Cheers . . .

read the title again chief..i said it might sound like shite (i've never heard it being played) ;)

i'm just wanting something thats different.... it seems everyone has a Gibson or a Fender...

it is too expensive for me to just to buy it in homage to my guitar hero... but i'm thinking of going for Gretsch or something actually... maybe even a Rickenbacker or something!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • in all fairness, Ian, even if the airline does sound like shite, you shouldn't be telling him not to buy one, just for the simple fact that you bought 40 strats in your lifetime. Him owning one, even if its just a "show" guitar, is alright.

now, if he can only afford one or two guitars, then maybe he should worry about playability. But many people collect PJ vinyl with no record player. He can collect a White Stripes guitar without it being a player.

Lord knows i'm on my way to a healthy distortion pedal collection.
And NOBODY'S gonna tell me i'm wrong!!!!! :):)

you know why everyone seems to own a Gibson or a Fender? because Gibson and Fender make some of the best guitars. of course, some people prefer Ibanez, PRS, etc etc etc which also make some good guitars. but I've never heard anybody say they needed an Airline because Airline makes good guitars.

I can understand the Jack White thing, but like I said before, it's not made from the same material as Jack White's guitar, so it's not going to sound like Jack White's guitar.

i know what you're saying and i actually agree with it.. but i've always been like this with stuff.. when i passed my driving test i had my father in one ear saying " get a Ford.. reliable, well built, etc" and my (future) father in law in the other ear saying "ohh you need an Vauxhaull (Opel in the states?)... well made, sturdy, wont let you down, etc!!!"

i bought an 1982 Volkswagen Beetle that used to make weird noises, smelled like someone had died in the back seat and couldnt go round a corner at more than 30mph or you'd crash... but it was cool and had character..

i read the Harmony Central on that guitar and its reviews are good, very good:-

Hey dunks, funny you shold post this. I watched UNder Blackpool light s last ngiht, and i was Gassing so had for ne of theese, I didn;t know they did em new. I too have no interest in strats or teles, just all look the same and have no character.
I have a Gretsch Brian Setzeer Hot Rod and it is porn, awesome for open tuning slide blues and all Jack's stuff. If you get one, you MUST get teh '59 ntresstle bracing,m it is crucial or they feed back like pigs. The TV Jones Filtertrons are a must too.
PM me and I'l, post some links.

If that's the guitar you really want, go for it. One thing I'd keep in mind is resale value. Most guitars, you can get most of your money back pretty easily, but I don't know if you'd be able to find a buyer willing to pay a lot for a uses Airline.

I'd buy one just for the looks. It just might be on my shopping list when I go through LA next year.

I took it as though you were being matter of fact, not as if you didn't know if it sounded like shit or not.
I took your post as -- yeah they might sound like shit, but I still want one.
Not -- Well, they might sound like shit (I don't know), but I still want one.
Either way (as I said in the beginning) make your own decision ""who are we to judge, buy what you want.''"

i've also been looking at one of those supro thingies :)

i guess i'm looking for something a bit different and the Eastwood guitars are getting phenomenal reviews on Harmony Central, plus (as Lucylespian was asking earlier) they have a supplier in Glasgow so i might make the trip up there and have a strum around with one!!!

I cant get a new guitar until after PJ gig in london,/holidays in July but after that i'll see how finances are doing :)

Man,,,, Dunkman,,,, if you like those,,,, we're gonna have to have a beer and toast to our weirdness! I love all those weird guitars.
I'm not so big on that particular one, but there are so many different ones out there. Eastwoods are iffy at best. They make reissues of a lot of those, and some are great, some are pretty crappy. I wouldn't buy one without playing it first.
Check on Ebay for Guyatone, Teisco, Airline, Supro's, Valco.
    All weird and unique.

I have a friend in Philadelphia who makes great offbeat guitars, too. Good quality at a decent cost.
He finds all these oddball amps and guitars,,,, I love going to his shop and playing,,,, but I'm always tempted in there.
    http://www.dipintoguitars.com/
Check out the vintage section there, especially the electric guitars and amps.

There is always the possibility that maybe someone could get your airline here and take it to England someday, if he could find one that's good. ;)
    haha,,,, You going to London?
I am, too! :D I'm not going all the way over just to see pj , ,,,, but also to see some people from here, and some other friends there. I might come up to Edinburgh, too. I'll finally meet VV and Bambi!
