ive been looking for a new bass amp around the 300-450 watt range, and im not quite ready to spend the amount of money that is required for a proper tube Ampeg or similar brand.

i stumbled upon Ashdown recently and tried out their MAG series (all solid state), and i was seriously impressed, then i found out that MR JEFF AMENT actually uses this http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ashdown-ABM-500-EVO-II-Mono-Bass-Amp-Head?sku=485021&src=3SOSWXXA
along side his Ampeg's.

has anyone tried Ashdown? i want to try out the ABM series, as i really would like tube pre-amo, but im yet to find a store that sells em....any info would be great.

Forget Jeff Ament, John Entwistle played through Ashdown rigs. Good enough for the Ox, good enough for you, methinks.

Ashdown is the shit man. If you've got the money, go for it !

  • I'm a big fan of the Ashdown stuff, I think it eats the solid-state Ampeg stuff for breakfast and the cheap SWR stuff for lunch. I almost purchased one of their little 1x10" practice amps as a recording amp a couple years back, just amazingly great tone for such a cheap little practice amp.

Add Adam Clayton (U2) to the list of Ashdown users.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
