Hey I'm new around here anyway so hello. but anyway I'm having a mare with my DSL just in that when you switch between the channels, more so from the clean to Lead channel their is a very slight delay. Probably less than half a second but it's so considerable when playing live. The click of the pedal is even picked up and is amplified when you press it. Man this is really annoying me, perhaps it's just a standard stock problem with Marshalls hey? Like Windows always fucking crashes...

  • I've got the TSL and our other guitarist has the DSL and neither one of us seems to have that problem. although I do have to kick in the lead channel a few sec's before I need it b/c it takes a bit to get up to the "boost" volume. I have noticed this with the mesa boogies though. its almost like the sound drops out and back in in like a sec. weird and probably not all that obvious to the crowd...hopefully. one piece of advice on the marshall though. DON"T DROP IT!!!! BAD THINGS HAPPEN!!!!!!! i speak from experience and having your amp shit in the middle of a solo with no back-up is the pits. get a good, strong case for the head and keep it there. saves many headaches. I got one but one gig too late. peace, scott

it sounds like a ground loop problem with the switch in regards to the popping.

as far as the delay there may be a number of solutions or none at all. This is an issue with a lot of channel switching amps but not having heard yours I can't tell whether it's "normal" or not.

I'd e-mail a few amp techs, you can find one near you at http://www.webervst.com Ted has a link to amp techs all over the US anyway. Weber builds speakers among other amp parts and may actually have an answer to your problem himself, it never hurts to ask.

http://www.analogman.com may be able to help you with your footswitch issue and might have some insights in the other problem.

the guys at http://www.plexipalace.com are experts on the older marshalls but they may have some insight into what's going on there or know someone who will, they have a great BBS over at that site too.

    good luck.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
  • Thanks for the info, i'll try not to drop it definately! though I did buy it second hand a few months ago so who knows..... The problem is far from bad, just a tad irratating.

I've been a member of Plexi Palace for a few years but they couldn't help because it's for mostly vintage amps so I'll give an email to one the experts from your links. Hopefully I can get this sorted, though I've asked a few others with JCM2000's and they've reported something similar too...

    Laters.
